I have always liked this stark black/white contrast.  We used to have light sussex for that very reason, but ended up losing them during our horrible infectious Coryza times. 

Our Columbian Marans are still in the development stage.  We continue to work on clean white under fluff with the assistance of the original breeder in Oklahoma. 

May 2023 we took a great road trip to Oklahoma to include these very nice Columbian Marans. I just love these birds.  They are huge. and are laying machines due to the influence of the light sussex. We had 2 separate pens in 2024, and 2025.  This year i have trimmed this down to 1 pen with a good selection of males and females.  The egg colour on these birds is really nice.  Let's see what 2026 brings for this group!
