The above birds are referred to as Black Silver Marans.  When i first saw these birds i was smitten.

I love the stark contrast between the black and the silver.  Notice that the chest is clean black.  This was decided amongst the Marans community because the Black Copper variety has a clean chest. 

It was decided to keep them the same instead of using the Black Birchen colouring which would have had lacing down the chest. 






These birds are not available in Canada, and while i wait for the border to open, i thought i would try my hand at making the variety on the home farm.  This will be the page keeping track of my Project.  I have a very nice man Bill Grover helping me with the genetics- as most of that is over my head.  Again, i am learning.
